How to create an email account in cPanel

This guide explains how to create a new email account from cPanel.

Step 1: Log in to cPanel

Log in to cPanel through your WebhostingNZ client area.

If you are unsure how to access cPanel, please follow this guide first:

How to access cPanel from the Client Area

Step 2: Open Email Accounts

In cPanel, click Email Accounts.

Step 3: Create the new email account

Choose the email address you want to create.

For example, if your domain is yourdomain.co.nz, you may want to create an address such as:

info@yourdomain.co.nz

Enter a secure password for the email account.

Please choose a strong password, as bots often try to guess email passwords so they can use accounts to send spam.

Step 4: Set the mailbox storage limit

Choose how much space the email account is allowed to use.

If the mailbox storage limit is set too low and the mailbox becomes full, new emails may bounce back to the sender with a “mailbox full” message.

Step 5: Click Create

Click Create to create the email account.

Your email account has now been created.

What next?

You can now use this email account in Webmail or set it up in an email app such as Outlook, Apple Mail, Gmail, Thunderbird, or Samsung Email.

You will need:

  • your full email address
  • the password you created
  • the incoming mail server, usually mail.yourdomain.co.nz
  • the outgoing mail server, usually mail.yourdomain.co.nz

Replace yourdomain.co.nz with your own domain name.
